I was having an issue with an ajax calendar extender control not firing not matter what I tried. Turns out you cannot put a calendarextender AFTER a modal popup extender block. Moving it to the top of the page made the calendar popup work again. I'm guessing this goes for other ajax toolkit controls as well.
Moral of the story? Always, always put your modal popup panel markup at the very bottom of your aspx page.
